What buildings or structures are on
the site? - Buildings surround the edges of the site, comprising of a pub, residential buildings and lecture buildings
- The pub seems to be placed out of context, painted in a titanium white, distinct from the greys and darker neutrals of the adjacent residential buildings as well as the worn-down impression of the Colombo Theatre buildings
- Area is primarily occupied by 3 main intersecting walkways
What natural elements are on the
site?
- Dense foliage towards Fig Tree Lane, people are immersed in drapings
- Fig tree planted at the end of the site, in front of the entrance to the residential buildings
Material Elements found on
site
- Artificially created elements within our space comprises of the sandstone stairs, metal sheets of the Fig Tree Theatre, concrete walkways and bricks of the residential buildings
- The space is used for communication and a means of commute through the pub and walkways respectively, with the Fig Tree Theatre facilitating a production and theatrical stage for the NIDA students
- The pub is painted in white, reflecting an ambience of lightness that stimulates conversation. Whereas, the opposite lecture buildings emits a heavier emotion
- Steps to sit on are made from sandstone and wood
